Case History

An important city in Southern Italy needs to produce drinking water starting from sea water. To ensure the required water supply, it is essential to create a desalination plant. The water to be desalination must be previously filtered from sand, algae and biological dirt before passing through the reverse osmosis stage.

For this success story, SATI deems it essential to use AISI 316L material for the filtration system, given that brackish water, with its high salinity, has a strong corrosive power. The system is divided into two filtration phases: the first, entrusted to five Vortex hydrocyclonic filters, aims to remove the sand; the second, however, includes four Rotor HP filters. The latter, thanks to the patented suction pad cleaning system, are able to effectively eliminate the colloidal dirt and algae present.

After pre-filtration carried out by SATI filters, the water is directed into a reverse osmosis system.
